Schueco SoftSlide uPVC sliding windows

Horizontal sliding windows on Schueco SoftSlide, a 74 mm uPVC sliding system made to sit beside our CT 70 windows in the same colours. The vent slides within the frame, so it never swings into the room or out over a path.

How SoftSlide sliding windows work

SoftSlide has its own outer frame, 74 mm deep, with 50 mm vents that run on height-adjustable rollers. The sliding vent passes in front of a fixed panel or a second sliding vent on a separate track.

When closed, an anti-lift-out gearbox stops the vent being lifted off its track from outside. Lockable handles are available for ground-floor and street-facing windows.

It isn't a CT 70 profile, and the numbers differ: SoftSlide takes thinner glass (4–28 mm) and its frame U-values start at 1.4. Schueco built it to combine with CT 70, and the foil range is shared, so a sliding window can sit next to a casement or tilt and turn window in the same finish.

Why specify them

  • No swing in or out. Suits windows onto verandas, balconies, side passages and decks, and windows behind furniture or over deep sills.
  • Slim vents. Two vent versions give an overall face width of 118 or 128 mm.
  • Matches the sliding doors. Our sliding and stacking doors are SoftSlide too, so windows and doors on one elevation share profiles and hardware.
  • A familiar sell. Many Australian homeowners expect sliding windows, which makes them an easy step from aluminium to uPVC.

Things to plan for

Energy targets first. Our sliding windows are rated double glazed only, with WERS Uw from 1.8 W/(m²K). If the NatHERS or BASIX assessment needs lower values, use CT 70 window types in those rooms.

Air infiltration is 0.64 L/s·m², against 0.03 for CT 70 tilt and turn and fixed windows. Schueco also publishes no sound or RC security rating for SoftSlide. For bedrooms on busy roads, or where an acoustic report sets a target, choose tilt and turn.

TopAlu aluminium cladding isn't available on SoftSlide, and Schueco's wireless window sensor is listed for CT 70, not SoftSlide. Check both before you promise a matching facade or a smart-home package.

The system limit comes from Schueco's SoftSlide size tables and mostly matters for doors. Window sashes are far smaller; we still check each one against the tables.

Layouts

Panel arrangements

SoftSlide units are built with 2, 3, 4 or 6 vents. The drawings show the main schemes, with the track position of each panel underneath.

Schueco SoftSlide uPVC sliding window layouts: two, three and four panels

Two panels

One fixed and one sliding vent, or both sliding. The usual choice for a standard window opening.

Three panels

A fixed centre with a sliding vent each side, or a single sliding vent at one end.

Panorama fixed light

Schueco's panoramic fixed light has 20% more glass area than a standard fixed panel, for windows where the view matters most.

For builders

Mark which panel slides and from which side. We'll confirm each sash against Schueco's limits and price the windows with any SoftSlide doors on the same job.

For architects

SoftSlide Uf tables and the WERS rating list for your assessor, plus advice on where a CT 70 type would meet the energy or acoustic target better.

For resellers

A sliding window for customers who won't give up the format, colour-matched to the CT 70 windows you sell in the same house.

FAQ

Questions from builders and architects

Is SoftSlide part of the CT 70 system?

No. SoftSlide is a separate Schueco sliding system with a 74 mm outer frame and 50 mm vents. Schueco designed it to combine with CT 70 windows and doors, and it takes the same foil colours. The WERS listing is named Schueco uPVC CT 70 SoftSlide Sliding Window because it is rated alongside our CT 70 range.

Can SoftSlide sliding windows be triple glazed?

SoftSlide takes glass from 4 to 28 mm, and all 42 of our WERS ratings for the sliding window are double glazed. Where a room needs triple glazing, use a CT 70 window type, which takes glass up to 42 mm.

What WERS figures do the sliding windows have?

Uw 1.8 to 2.5 W/(m²K), SHGC 0.14 to 0.47 and air infiltration 0.64 L/s·m², across 42 ratings with AGG glass. The best Uw, 1.8, is an AGG PLUS Clear 8/12/8 double glazed unit.

How secure are SoftSlide sliding windows?

The sliding vent has an anti-lift-out gearbox, and lockable handles are available. Schueco doesn't publish an RC burglary class for SoftSlide. If the brief calls for RC 2, specify CT 70 tilt and turn windows for those openings.

Do the sliding windows match SoftSlide sliding doors?

Yes. Our sliding doors are also SoftSlide, so windows and doors on the same elevation share the profile shape, sight lines, hardware look and colour.

Can a SoftSlide window have aluminium cladding outside?

No. Schueco doesn't offer TopAlu cladding on SoftSlide. It is available in white and the Schueco foil range, including woodgrains and different colours inside and out.
