uPVC windows supplier in the Southern Highlands

Highlands builders work with cold winters, period homes and bushfire-prone land, often on the same job. We supply Schueco uPVC windows and doors with the thermal performance a Highlands winter calls for, delivered from St Marys.

Wingecarribee Shire

The Southern Highlands is Wingecarribee Shire Council: Mittagong, Bowral, Moss Vale, Berrima, Robertson, Bundanoon, Exeter, Sutton Forest, Hill Top, Balmoral and Wingello among its towns and villages. The Hume Motorway and the Southern Highlands rail line connect it to Sydney.

Building work ranges from new homes on rural-residential lots and estates on the edges of Bowral, Mittagong and Moss Vale, to alterations of Victorian, Federation and interwar houses. Berrima is a historic village, and Bowral has its own heritage streetscapes, so window changes on older buildings often go through heritage assessment.

Frost and heating

Bowral sits at about 690 m, Moss Vale 678 m and Mittagong 635 m. Winters are cold and clear, with frosts on still mornings, so heating is the main thermal load. That puts the U-value first. CT 70 reaches a frame Uf from 1.2 W/(m²K), and with AGG triple glazing our WERS ratings get to Uw 0.9 for fixed windows and 1.2 for tilt and turn. Two continuous seal levels and an air infiltration rate of 0.03 L/s·m² on tilt and turn and fixed windows cut draughts, the other half of a cold house.

Bushfire

Building after Black Summer

The Green Wattle Creek and Morton fires of December 2019 and January 2020 destroyed around 60 homes in the shire, with Balmoral, Wingello, Bundanoon, Exeter and Penrose among the villages hit. Rebuilding and new building in these areas happens on bush fire prone land, where the BAL is assessed for each site and sets the construction requirements for windows and doors.

We don't make general BAL claims. Send us the BAL assessment with your window schedule and we'll tell you what we can supply for that level before you specify.

Period homes

For older houses, CT 70 has the square-edged Classic sash and the softer, stepped Rondo sash, glazing bars, arched and raked shapes, and woodgrain foils inside and out. Check with council early where a building is heritage-listed or in a conservation area.

Supply

From St Marys, down the Hume

Southern Highlands orders go out from St Marys via the Hume Motorway. It's a regional run, so include the address and target dates in your enquiry and we'll plan the delivery against your program. Rural sites with long driveways or soft ground need a note about truck access. Your energy assessor can use our WERS ratings directly for BASIX, and AS 2047 test reports are available on request.

FAQ

Questions from builders and architects

Is triple glazing worth it in Bowral or Moss Vale?

Usually. The towns sit at roughly 630 to 690 m, winters are cold and frost is common on clear mornings. With AGG triple glazing, our WERS ratings reach Uw 0.9 W/(m²K) for CT 70 fixed windows and 1.2 for tilt and turn, and the CT 70 sash takes glass up to 42 mm.

Can you supply homes being rebuilt after the bushfires?

Ask us with the BAL assessment. Rebuilds in areas such as Balmoral, Wingello and Bundanoon are typically on bush fire prone land, where the BAL is assessed per site. We'll tell you what we can supply for that level; we don't make general BAL claims.

Can uPVC windows suit a period home?

In many cases. CT 70 comes with the square Classic or the softer Rondo sash, glazing bars, arched and raked shapes, and woodgrain foils. For heritage-listed buildings or conservation areas, check with Wingecarribee Shire Council before you specify.
