Windows
Double glazed uPVC windows, made in Sydney
Double and triple glazed Schueco uPVC windows for builders, architects and resellers. Five window types made at our St Marys factory from Schueco profiles: four on the 70 mm Corona CT 70 system and a sliding window on Schueco SoftSlide. Double or triple glazed, WERS rated, and supplied ready to install. We supply; your builder or installer fits them, and we can recommend an experienced installation team.
The range
Five window types
Each page has the opening options, size limits, WERS figures and the details that affect your schedule.
Side by side
How the window types compare
WERS figures are for our own rated products (manufacturer "Sustainable Windows", AGG glass). The range covers every glass unit we've had rated for that window type, so the low end is the best glass, not the typical one.
| Window type | Opening | System | WERS Uw W/(m²K) | Air infiltration L/s·m² | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tilt and turn | Inward: tilts from the top or swings on side hinges | CT 70 | 1.2–2.1 | 0.03 | Bedrooms, upper floors, apartments, noisy sites |
| Casement | Outward, side-hung | CT 70 | 1.6–2.2 | 0.22 | Living areas where the room side must stay clear |
| Awning | Outward, top-hung | CT 70 | 1.6–2.2 | 0.22 | Kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, below fixed lights |
| Sliding | Horizontal slide, no swing | SoftSlide | 1.8–2.5 | 0.64 | Openings onto verandas, balconies and paths |
| Fixed | Non-opening | CT 70 | 0.9–2.4 | 0.03 | Picture windows, raked gables, stair voids, sidelights |

Choosing
How to choose window types for a project
Start with the energy target
Take the window U-value and SHGC from the NatHERS or BASIX assessment. If it calls for Uw below 1.6, the opening windows in those rooms need to be tilt and turn, or the area needs more fixed glass.
Mark the noisy and exposed rooms
Next to main roads, rail or flight paths, use tilt and turn and fixed glazing: they have the lowest air leakage, and the 47 dB acoustic test was on a tilt and turn unit.
Check clearance both sides
Inward sashes need room inside; outward sashes need room outside. Sliding windows need neither, which suits windows over decks, paths and balconies.
Flag fall-protection openings
Upper-floor windows with low sills may need restricted openings under the NCC. Note them on the schedule and we'll specify tilt-before-turn hardware, restrictors or Schueco barriers.
Keeping to one system where you can helps on site. The four CT 70 types share the same 70 mm frame, so they can be coupled with a mullion into one factory-made unit and finished in one colour.
Glazing
Double or triple glazed
CT 70 sashes and frames take glass units from 4 to 42 mm, enough for triple glazing. SoftSlide takes 4 to 28 mm and is rated double glazed. All our WERS ratings use Australian Glass Group units, and we choose the glass for each opening to suit the energy, acoustic and safety requirements on your plans.
Finishes
White, foil or aluminium-clad
White as standard, or more than 300 Schueco foils in solid colours and woodgrains, with a different colour inside and out if needed. CT 70 can also take TopAlu aluminium cladding outside in any RAL colour. SoftSlide takes the foils but not TopAlu.
Material
Made for Australian sun
Schueco extrudes the profiles in Germany from its Hot Countries (HC) compound, made for high heat and UV and under ongoing weathering tests. We import the profiles and make the finished windows here. CT 70 windows use Schueco VarioTec hardware with security up to RC 2.

FAQ
Questions from builders and architects
Which window type has the best energy rating?
Fixed glazing. Our CT 70 fixed windows reach WERS Uw 0.9 W/(m²K) with triple glazing. The best opening window is tilt and turn at Uw 1.2, then casement and awning at 1.6. SoftSlide sliding windows start at 1.8 and are rated with double glazing only. Every figure depends on the glass unit, so we match the glass to your NatHERS or BASIX target.
Should I specify inward or outward opening windows?
Outward casements and awnings keep the room clear and take flyscreens on the inside. Inward tilt and turn windows can be cleaned from inside, vent securely in the tilt position and are far more airtight in WERS testing (0.03 against 0.22 L/s·m²). Many projects use both: tilt and turn in bedrooms and upper floors, awnings over benches and in wet areas.
Can I mix window types on one elevation?
Yes. Tilt and turn, casement, awning and fixed windows are all built on the CT 70 frame, so they share depth, colours and frame lines and can be coupled in one unit with a mullion. Sliding windows use the SoftSlide system, which has its own frame but takes the same Schueco foil colours.
Which window type is best for road or aircraft noise?
Schueco tested a CT 70 tilt and turn window at Rw 47 dB with acoustic glass. Fixed glazing and tilt and turn also have the lowest air infiltration in our WERS ratings. Schueco publishes no sound rating for SoftSlide, so we don't recommend sliding windows where an acoustic report sets a target.
Do you supply hopper, bi-fold or double-hung windows?
No. Our window range is tilt and turn, casement, awning, sliding and fixed. For low-level ventilation that works like a hopper, the tilt position of a tilt and turn window opens inward from the top while the window stays secured.
What should I send for a window quote?
The window schedule or elevations with sizes, the opening type for each window, frame colour inside and out, and any energy, acoustic or bushfire requirements from the approval documents. We check each opening against Schueco's size limits and come back with a priced schedule.
