The Hills has two building markets side by side: dense new housing around the Metro Northwest stations, and large homes on rural-residential lots where bushfire is part of the brief. We supply Schueco uPVC windows and doors for both.
The Hills Shire and its neighbours
Most of the Hills District is in The Hills Shire Council area: Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills, Bella Vista, Norwest, Kellyville, Rouse Hill, Box Hill and the rural north out to Dural, Kenthurst, Annangrove, Glenorie and Maroota. Parts of Dural, Cherrybrook and West Pennant Hills sit in Hornsby Shire, and a strip along the western edge belongs to Blacktown City.
Sydney Metro Northwest opened on 26 May 2019 from Tallawong to Chatswood, with stations at Rouse Hill, Kellyville, Bella Vista, Norwest, Hills Showground and Castle Hill. The station precincts have filled with apartments and townhouses since. Further north, Box Hill and North Kellyville are rezoned growth precincts of the North West Growth Area, where project homes go up street by street.
Bushfire-prone land in the rural north
The Hills Shire Council publishes bush fire prone land maps, and the rural-residential areas around Dural, Kenthurst, Annangrove and Glenorie are where most of the mapped land sits. On a mapped lot, the bushfire attack level (BAL) is assessed for the site, and the construction requirements for windows and doors follow from it.
We don't make general BAL claims for our products. If your site has a BAL assessment, send it with the window schedule and we'll tell you what we can supply for that level before you specify.

Wide openings to the pool
Rural-residential homes often have one long wall of glass to the pool or the view. EasySlide lift and slide vents reach 3225 mm wide and 2450 mm high, up to 300 kg, with a flush, thermally broken threshold. Over 150 kg, Schueco recommends SoftHandle for easy operation.
Upper floors on a slope
Split-level homes put bedroom windows well above the ground on the low side. Tilt and turn windows ventilate in the tilt position, and the tilt-before-turn option makes tilt the first handle position. Where the NCC asks for fall protection, Schueco glass and bar barriers fit CT 70.
Matching finishes
Many Hills homes are dark-framed outside and white inside. CT 70 and EasySlide can be foiled differently on each face, or clad outside with TopAlu aluminium in any RAL colour.

Ask us first. On bush fire prone land the BAL is assessed for each site, and the windows must meet the construction requirements for that level. Send the BAL assessment with your schedule and we'll tell you what we can supply.
Do you deliver to Box Hill and North Kellyville?
Yes. We deliver from St Marys to sites across The Hills Shire, including the North West Growth Area precincts.
What suits a large rural-residential home in the Hills?
