uPVC windows supplier in the Inner West
In the Inner West, noise is usually the brief. Aircraft on approach to Sydney Airport, trains through Sydenham, Petersham and Ashfield, and traffic on Parramatta Road all reach the bedroom unless the windows stop them. We supply Schueco uPVC windows and doors with tested acoustic performance.
Inner West Council and its housing
Inner West Council was formed in 2016 by merging Ashfield, Leichhardt and Marrickville councils. Residents voted to split it again in a 2021 poll, but in March 2024 the NSW Government rejected the demerger on cost grounds, so it remains one council. It covers suburbs from Balmain, Rozelle and Annandale to Newtown, Marrickville, Dulwich Hill, Summer Hill, Ashfield and Tempe. Builders often count Canada Bay, Burwood and Strathfield as inner west too.
The housing stock is Victorian terraces, Federation cottages, workers' cottages and converted warehouses, with large heritage conservation areas around Balmain, Annandale, Leichhardt and Petersham. New apartments go up along Parramatta Road and near the stations. Most window work here is rear additions, upper-floor extensions and apartment blocks rather than new houses.

Aircraft noise
Under the Sydney Airport flight path
The Inner West adjoins Sydney Airport, and suburbs such as Marrickville, Sydenham, Tempe, St Peters and Newtown sit under the approaches to the main north-south runways. Sydney Airport's Australian Noise Exposure Forecast (ANEF) maps the expected noise, and AS 2021 sets how much noise reduction a building on each contour needs, room by room. Council development controls for the former Marrickville area also deal with aircraft noise.
Windows are the weak point of most facades. CT 70 helps in three ways: two continuous gasket levels around the sash, a glazing rebate that takes units up to 42 mm (room for thick laminated acoustic glass), and tested results. Schueco measured a CT 70 tilt and turn window at Rw 47 dB with Climatop Silence acoustic glass. For doors, EasySlide reaches up to Rw 43 dB and the CT 70 entrance door Rw 38 dB.
Send us the acoustic consultant's report and we'll set the glass for each opening to the Rw it asks for.
Road and rail
Parramatta Road, the rail lines and WestConnex
For new homes beside freeways, tollways and roads carrying more than 20,000 vehicles a day, or near rail corridors, the NSW Transport and Infrastructure SEPP sets internal limits of 35 dB(A) in bedrooms at night and 40 dB(A) in other living areas. The same windows that handle aircraft noise handle these.
Supply
Delivery and documents
We deliver from St Marys to Inner West sites; with narrow streets and rear-lane access common, tell us how the windows get to the back of the house. For DA and construction certificate stages, we can provide Schueco's sound test data, WERS ratings for BASIX, and AS 2047 test reports on request. Heritage-area street elevations may need timber under the DCP, so check before you specify uPVC at the front.

FAQ
Questions from builders and architects
What window spec do I need under the Sydney Airport flight path?
It depends on where the site falls on the airport's ANEF contours. AS 2021 sets the aircraft noise reduction needed for each room type, and an acoustic consultant turns that into a glazing spec. CT 70 tilt and turn windows reached Rw 47 dB in Schueco's tests with acoustic laminated glass.
Are your windows suitable for Marrickville or Sydenham?
Yes. Those are among the suburbs nearest the airport's main north-south runways, so acoustic glazing is often required. Send us the acoustic report with the schedule and we'll match the glass build-up.
Can I ventilate without opening the window fully?
Tilt and turn windows tilt open at the top for air while staying locked into the frame, and Schueco VarioTec hardware has a parallel vent position of about 6 mm that keeps RC 2 security. Acoustic performance drops whenever a window is open, so the acoustic report should cover ventilation.
