What to sort out with your plans
Wind
Queensland spans several wind regions, from the south-east to cyclonic areas in the north. The wind rating a window needs comes from the site's wind classification, so it's set project by project. Give Comfort the wind classification with your plans. AS 2047 test reports are available on request. We don't make cyclone claims for the range; any opening outside the tested limits is flagged at quote stage.
Heat and sun
In Brisbane's climate, keeping summer sun out usually matters more than keeping winter heat in, which makes SHGC as important as U-value. Our WERS ratings cover SHGC from 0.12 to 0.62, so west and north glazing can get a low-SHGC unit while shaded glazing keeps more daylight.
Energy assessment
New homes in Queensland are assessed against the NCC energy efficiency requirements, usually through NatHERS. As in NSW, the assessor works with each window's Uw and SHGC. Ask Comfort for the rating data that matches the glass on your job.
Noise and airtightness
For homes near motorways, rail lines or flight paths, CT 70 windows are tested to Rw 47 dB with acoustic glass. With air conditioning running for much of the year, airtight tilt and turn and fixed units (0.03 L/s·m² in WERS) keep the cooled air in.
