uPVC windows supplier on the Northern Beaches

Salt air, wind off the ocean and bushland behind the houses: Northern Beaches sites are hard on windows. Schueco uPVC frames don't corrode or need painting, which is why builders here look at them. We supply them from St Marys with the paperwork to back the specification.

One council, three very different coasts

Northern Beaches Council was formed in 2016 from Manly, Warringah and Pittwater councils, and covers everything from Manly and Freshwater to Dee Why, Narrabeen, Mona Vale, Avalon and Palm Beach. There's no railway: the area is reached by Military Road and the Spit Bridge, Pittwater Road, the Wakehurst Parkway and Mona Vale Road, which matters for delivery timing.

The housing is mostly detached homes, with apartment buildings along the beach strips and around Dee Why, Brookvale and Manly. A lot of the work is rebuilding or extending older beach houses, often on steep blocks with views to the water.

Salt, wind and the window spec

Front-row and headland sites take salt spray and strong wind. The frame side of that is straightforward: uPVC doesn't rust, pit or need repainting, and CT 70's steel reinforcement is corrosion-protected and enclosed inside the profile. What needs thought is the hardware on the most exposed elevations, and the size of each sash.

Schueco publishes CT 70 maximum sash sizes per wind load class, and the sizes come down as the class goes up. On an exposed site, send us the wind classification and we'll check each opening. AS 2047 test reports are available on request for your certifier.

What to watch

Specifying for the beaches

Exposed sliding doors

Schueco's EasySlide documents say two-track sliding units shouldn't go in unprotected, exposed positions, giving south-west facing as the example. On a south-westerly ocean elevation, we'll suggest a sheltered layout, a CT 70 French door or fixed glass with opening windows.

Bushland edges

Pittwater and the western side of the peninsula back onto Ku-ring-gai Chase and Garigal national parks, and much of that edge is mapped bush fire prone. The BAL is assessed per site. Send it to us with the schedule; we make no general BAL claims.

Views and energy

Big glass to a view works against BASIX unless the glass is good. CT 70 fixed windows reach Uw 0.9 W/(m²K) on WERS with triple glazing, so large fixed lights don't have to cost you the rating.

Supply

Getting windows to the peninsula

We deliver from St Marys. Northern Beaches runs depend on the bridges and arterial roads, and many sites are on steep streets with no room for a truck to stand. Tell us about access, parking and any crane needs when you order and we'll plan the delivery around them.

FAQ

Questions from builders and architects

Are uPVC windows suitable near the beach?

The frames suit coastal sites well: uPVC doesn't rust or need repainting, and the steel reinforcement sits inside the profile and is corrosion-protected. Hardware choice matters more on front-row sites, so tell us how close to the water the house is and we'll go through options.

Can I use a lift and slide door on an exposed ocean-facing wall?

Check with us first. Schueco's EasySlide documentation says two-track sliding units should not be installed in unprotected, exposed positions, giving south-west facing as an example. We'll look at the elevation and suggest a layout or a different door type.

What about bushfire-prone land in Pittwater?

On mapped bush fire prone land the BAL is assessed for each site. Send the BAL assessment with your schedule and we'll tell you what we can supply; we don't make general BAL claims.
