uPVC windows supplier in the Eastern Suburbs

The Eastern Suburbs mix nineteenth-century terraces, interwar apartment blocks and new houses on the cliffs, most of them within reach of salt spray. We supply Schueco uPVC windows and doors to builders and architects working on all three.

Councils and building context

Three councils cover most of the Eastern Suburbs: Waverley (Bondi, Bronte, Bondi Junction, Dover Heights, Vaucluse in part), Woollahra (Paddington, Woollahra, Double Bay, Bellevue Hill, Rose Bay, Watsons Bay) and Randwick (Randwick, Coogee, Clovelly, Kensington, Kingsford, Maroubra, Matraville, La Perouse). The City of Sydney takes in the western edge, including part of Paddington.

Much of the housing is old and dense. Paddington and Woollahra have large heritage conservation areas of Victorian terraces. Bondi, Coogee and Randwick have streets of interwar and post-war walk-up apartments, many now owned under strata and due for new windows. Randwick and Kingsford have grown around the L2 and L3 light rail lines, which opened in 2019 and 2020, and around UNSW and the hospital precinct.

Salt spray and wind

From Bondi to Maroubra, houses near the cliffs take salt spray and wind straight off the Tasman. uPVC frames don't rust or need repainting, and CT 70's steel reinforcement is corrosion-protected and sealed inside the profile. On the most exposed elevations, sash size is limited by wind load: Schueco's CT 70 size tables are published per wind class, so send the wind classification with your schedule. AS 2047 test reports are available on request.

Common jobs

Where uPVC earns its place in the east

Strata window replacement

Old aluminium or timber windows in walk-up blocks let in noise from roads like Anzac Parade and Old South Head Road, and leak heat. CT 70 tilt and turn windows reach an air infiltration rate of 0.03 L/s·m² on WERS and Rw 47 dB tested with acoustic glass. Replacement normally needs owners corporation approval first.

Terrace rear additions

The back of a terrace is where owners want glass: a wide door to a small courtyard, a fixed light over the stair. EasySlide lift and slide vents go up to 3225 mm wide with a flush threshold; SoftSlide suits smaller openings. Street-facing windows in conservation areas may need to stay timber, so check the DCP.

Fall protection

Apartment windows with low sills often need a barrier under the NCC. Schueco glass barriers (10–16 mm glass) and bar barriers mount directly on CT 70, which keeps the outside clean of separate balustrades. Check each opening with your certifier.

Supply

Delivering into tight streets

We deliver from St Marys. Eastern Suburbs sites often have no off-street space, narrow lanes behind terraces and parking restrictions, and apartment jobs may need lifts booked or windows carried up stairs. Tell us about access and the order you want windows delivered in, and we'll plan around it.

FAQ

Questions from builders and architects

Do you supply replacement windows for apartment buildings?

Yes, through builders and strata contractors. Window replacement in a strata building normally needs owners corporation approval, and sometimes council consent where the facade changes. Send the existing window sizes and we'll quote CT 70 replacements.

Can uPVC windows suit a Paddington terrace?

It depends on the council and the elevation. Street-facing windows in heritage conservation areas are assessed against the DCP and may need to be timber. Rear additions are usually more flexible, and that's where uPVC tends to fit best.

How do uPVC windows cope with salt spray at Bondi or Coogee?

The frames don't corrode or need painting, and the steel reinforcement inside is corrosion-protected. Tell us how close the site is to the water so we can talk through hardware for the most exposed elevations.
